Write On Seaside! 2020 |
Our Event
While COVID-19 cancelled the annual Write On Library Foundation fundraiser this Spring, we moved it online to Facebook. Every week we released a new video of our authors reading excerpts from their stories, chatting about writing, and sharing a secret word or phrase that viewers could use to enter a drawing for prizes. We also posted opportunities for people to bid on some items including naming characters from the stories and dedicating the entire anthology to a loved one. The anthology, as well as the anthologies from past years, were posted for people to buy. Proceeds from our online auction benefit the Seaside Public Library's long-term goals, including possible expansion of the library building.
Online AuctionOur 2020 Write On Seaside! auction had a variety of items ranging from books to tote bags. It also included gift cards to Driftwood Inn, Nonni's Italian Bistro, Seaside Inverted Experience, Georgie's Ceramic & Clay, as well as 5 characters and the dedication from our 2020 anthology.
The auction was primarily online due to Covid-19, but the main items were on display in a showcase at the library. |

Anthology
The Seaside Public Library Foundation published its third annual short story anthology to support library programs. Writers were invited to submit a short story with a theme of books or libraries. Winning entries were supposed to be featured at the Write On Seaside! fundraiser this spring, where writers would have had the opportunity to read an excerpt from their story and speak about their writing process. Due to Covid-19, the April event was cancelled. In an effort to still hold the event and still release the anthology, the event was moved to Facebook, and the authors read excerpts and spoke about their writing process in short videos. Email us at [email protected] if you would like to buy a copy of the anthology.
